Containing papers presented at the Sixth International Conference on Computational Modelling of Free and Moving Boundary Problems, this book demonstrates the rapid growth of work in the area by scientists and engineers in both academia and industry.

The international contributors consider numerical modelling of the continuum of changing shape or problems related to the position of an unknown interphase boundary. These problems, encountered extensively in nature as well as in technology, can be analytically solved only in a few special cases. A new scientific discipline of discrete approximate solutions has therefore evolved and the current state-of-the-art is reflected in this volume. Although the types of phenomena differ considerably, several common computational features can be identified and similar problems can often be solved by different numerical methods.

The interdisciplinary nature of the problems is shown in the diversity of the physical models and numerical methods described and the papers featured are divided under the following headings: Phase Change; Free Surface Flow; Numerical Methods; Special Interface Problems; Fracture and Contact Problems.
